Starting Rotation – Who fills the backend? – Barring injuries, it is most likely that Tanaka, Sabathia and Pineda are all going to be part of the Yankees 2017 rotation to start the season. What about the final two spots? If the Yankees do not sign any more starters, we are looking at Bryan Mitchell, Luis Severino, Adam Warren, Luis Cessa and Chad Green, My money is on Mitchell and Severino but these guys will all receive a chance.

Dominican Republic Team Manager Tony Pena has already included Gary Sanchez on the roster and Sanchez has yet to tell the Yankees if he is actually playing or not. The Yankees may have reservations about their phenom potentially getting hurt, like Mark Teixeira, who sprained his wrist playing in the WBC in 2013 and ended up having surgery in what was a lost season for him.
