NEW YORK METS
Final Score: New York 2, Milwaukee 0
Milwaukee, WI (SportsNetwork.com) – Jacob deGrom sparkled in eight strong innings and the New York Mets snapped a season-worst seven-game losing streak with a 2-0 win over the Milwaukee Brewers on Thursday afternoon. DeGrom (8-5) struck out seven, walked none and gave up just four hits to snap a two-start winless streak. The 2014 NL Rookie of the Year also singled and scored a run in the finale of the three-game series. The Mets avoided what would have been their first winless road trip of at least eight games in almost 24 years. The Brewers had won the first two games of the series on the heels of a 1-8 stretch. Rookie right-hander Taylor Jungmann pitched five scoreless innings in his fourth career start, giving up four hits and two walks while striking out five. He was overshadowed by DeGrom, who retired 20 of the first 21 Milwaukee batters, giving up just a double to Hernan Perez in the third inning.
