NEW YORK YANKEES
Final Score: Philadelphia 11, NY Yankees 6
Bronx, NY (SportsNetwork.com) – Maikel Franco drove in five runs for the second straight night, and the rookie’s two-run double in the ninth inning helped lift the Philadelphia Phillies an 11-6 win over the New York Yankees on Tuesday. Franco homered twice to help the Phillies snap a 12-game road losing streak on Monday, and another monster effort at the plate, including a three- run blast, clinched the club’s first road series victory of the season. Andres Blanco tacked on a three-run triple following Franco’s go-ahead hit in the ninth, while the top of Philadelphia’s lineup — Ben Revere and Cesar Hernandez — combined for six hits, five runs scored and an RBI. Cameron Rupp added a two-run homer for the Phillies, who overcome four Yankees home runs and their lights-out closer. Dellin Betances (4-1), who came in having allowed one earned run in 35 innings this year, was charged with four in the deciding ninth.
NEW YORK METS
Final Score: Milwaukee 3, New York 2
Milwaukee, WI (SportsNetwork.com) – Carlos Gomez returned from a four-game absence and scored the winning run in the Milwaukee Brewers’ 3-2 win over the New York Mets on Tuesday. Gomez drew a one-out walk against Mets reliever Hansel Robles (1-2) in the seventh inning and showed the wheels one batter later. Sean Gilmartin replaced Robles and Adam Lind greeted him by slapping a double the opposite way down the left field line. The ball squirted past Michael Cuddyer in foul territory, allowing Gomez to score the go-ahead run. Mike Fiers tossed six innings of two-run ball for the Brewers, who have won two of four following a six-game losing skid. Fiers allowed four hits and two walks while striking out seven. Will Smith (3-0) struck out three in 1 1/3 innings of relief to earn the win, and Francisco Rodriguez fanned two in a 1-2-3 ninth for his 14th save.
