Hughes (9-6) won his fifth straight decision by surrendering just seven hits with three strikeouts and no walks. Miguel Sano and Brian Dozier each hit two-run homers, Kurt Suzuki and Aaron Hicks each drove in two runs and Eddie Rosario scored three times for the Twins, who won their fourth straight home game. Mark Teixeira finished with three hits and Jacoby Ellsbury drove in the lone run for the Yankees, who had their four-game winning streak halted.

Yasiel Puig cracked a two-run shot and Jimmy Rollins added a solo blast for the Dodgers, who have won five of their last seven games. Ian Thomas (1-1) allowed a run on three hits with five strikeouts over five innings to get the win. Jon Niese (5-9) surrendered six runs on eight hits and a walk over three frames for New York, which has dropped six of its last eight games.
