Tanaka (7-3) allowed just three runs on four hits, striking out seven without walking a batter, in 7 2/3 innings to pick up his third straight win. Chase Headley’s first-inning three-run double highlighted a four-run frame and Jacoby Ellsbury added a second-inning solo homer and drove in four runs for the AL East-leading Yankees, who have won four straight. Didi Gregorius and John Ryan Murphy each added three hits for New York, which got to Baltimore starter Ubaldo Jimenez early, scoring seven runs in the first three innings.

Kershaw (8-6) was perfect through six innings and wound up giving up three hits and striking out 11 for the Dodgers, who have won their past two. Jimmy Rollins hit a solo home run while Yasiel Puig and Alberto Callaspo each drove in a run in the win. Bartolo Colon (9-9) allowed a run on five hits with four strikeouts over eight innings for the Mets, who have lost five of their last seven.
