Yankees starter Nathan Eovaldi pitched well through five innings but was pulled with two outs in the sixth and was charged with two runs on four hits and three walks. Baltimore’s Wei-Yin Chen (4-6) took the loss, falling to 0-2 in his last three starts after allowing three runs on 10 hits in 6 1/3 frames. Alex Rodriguez and Chase Headley each knocked in a run for the Yankees, who have won seven of their last nine games.

Washington, DC (SportsNetwork.com) – Eric Campbell’s pinch-hit, two-run single provided the Mets with the lead in the seventh inning and New York beat Washington, 7-2, at Nationals Park. A night after playing sparkling defense in a 7-2 win, the Nationals committed a pair of costly errors on Tuesday and lost for the third time in four contests. Their lead in the NL East dwindled to two games over the Mets with the finale of this three-game series coming Wednesday afternoon. Curtis Granderson, Ruben Tejada and Daniel Murphy hit consecutive run-scoring singles in the ninth inning for the Mets, who got two RBI from Wilmer Flores. Jacob deGrom (10-6) had eight strikeouts over six frames. He allowed three hits and a pair of runs, and threw 61 of his 82 pitches for strikes.
