NEW YORK YANKEES
Final Score: Boston 5, New York 3
Boston, MA (SportsNetwork.com) – Hanley Ramirez went 2-for-4 with a two-run homer to back another solid start from Eduardo Rodriguez, and the Boston Red Sox evened their series with the New York Yankees by recording a 5-3 victory. Rodriguez (5-2) surrendered solo homers to Alex Rodriguez and Jacoby Ellsbury, but yielded just three other hits over 6 1/3 innings to help Boston bounce back from Friday’s 5-1 defeat in the opener of this three-game set. Mookie Betts aided the cause with a pair of hits that included an RBI triple, while Alejandro De Aza finished 2-for-4 with two runs scored in the win. Ellsbury tallied three of New York’s nine hits and scored twice in the loss, only the Yankees’ second in their last 10 visits to Fenway Park. Ivan Nova (1-3) worked 6 2/3 innings for the Yankees but was reached for four runs on eight hits.
NEW YORK METS
Final Score: New York 4, Arizona 2
Flushing, NY (SportsNetwork.com) – Matt Harvey made his usual contribution on the mound for the Mets, and he also added his first career home run in New York’s 4-2 win over the Arizona Diamondbacks on Saturday. Facing a 2-1 deficit after Lucas Duda’s home run earlier in the inning, Harvey’s line drive to left barely cleared the wall for a two-run homer that gave the Mets the lead for good. Harvey (8-6) allowed two runs on five hits and four walks in seven innings with nine strikeouts to help New York take its second straight game in the series. Making his second start in his comeback from Tommy John surgery, Arizona’s Patrick Corbin (1-1) retired 10 in a row early in his outing but finished with four runs allowed on four hits and a walk in five-plus innings with five strikeouts.
