Eovaldi (8-2) allowed five hits and three walks with three strikeouts over 5 1/3 innings for the Yankees, who snapped a three-game slide. Garrett Jones hit a solo home run, Chase Headley was 3- for-5 with an RBI and Didi Gregorius drove in a run in the win. Matt Shoemaker (4-7) gave up two runs on seven hits over 5 2/3 innings for the Angels, who had a four-game winning streak stopped. Mike Trout hit a solo home run in the loss.

Flushing, NY (SportsNetwork.com) – Starlin Castro broke a scoreless tie with an RBI infield single in the 11th inning and the Chicago Cubs shut out the New York Mets for the second day in a row with a 2-0 win on Wednesday night. Miguel Montero also stroked an RBI hit in the 11th for the Cubs, who won the opener of the three-game series 1-0 on Monday to snap a five-game losing streak. They have won eight games in a row over the Mets, including six this season. Starting pitchers Bartolo Colon and Jon Lester each threw seven innings and combined to strike out 15. Colon allowed just three hits and a walk for the Mets while fanning eight. Lester, now winless in his last eight starts, gave up five hits and a walk for the Cubs.
