- C.C. Sabathia is set to come off the disabled list and start on Wednesday according to skipper Joe Girardi. Already having arguably the worst season of his career, Sabathia will now wear a knee brace to assist his problematic right knee. This has disaster written all over it as a 35 year old with a balky knee is not going to be any help to a team contending for the playoffs. If the Yanks find themselves fortunate enough to be in the postseason, or even in the one game Wild Card playoff, I can’t imagine anybody would trust Sabathia in such a situation. If Girardi would, fire him now. The team was better off using his injury as the excuse to keep him off the field without hurting his pride.
- Mark Teixeira was finally placed on the 15-day DL last night as he remains sidelined with a bone bruise after fouling a ball off his leg on August 17th. The 2015 Yankees at their finest featured a healthy and powerful Teixeira and although he claims he will be back this season, it is a scary prospect thinking about a potential playoff run without one of their strongest offensive superstars in the lineup. His health and the success of their offense are strongly linked.
