NFL Weekend with John Brockway

WEEK 10 GAME PICKS

Last week: 8-5
Season Record: 85-47

TOP GAMES

BILLS AT JETS: THESE TEAMS MATCH UP PRETTY EVENLY AS BOTH HAVE AVERAGE QB’S, STRONG RUNNING GAMES AND A POWERFUL DEFENSE. BUFFALO NEEDS TO BE BETTER IN THE RED ZONE AND LEARN TO AVOID MISTAKES IN KEY SITUATIONS. THE JETS NEED TO RE-ESTABLISH THEIR RUNNING GAME THAT HAS SLOWED DOWN THE PAST FEW WEEKS BUT SHOULD HAVE A HARD TIME DOING SO. LOOK FOR THIS GAME TO BE BACK-AND-FORTH AND THUS CLOSE THROUGHOUT WITH THE WINNER BEING THE TEAM WHO MAKES A LATE BIG PLAY.
PICK: BILLS 23-21

VIKINGS AT RAIDERS: MINNESOTA HAS STARTED TO FIND THEIR GROOVE OFFENSIVELY BUT THEIR DEFENSE HAS BEEN THEIR BIGGEST STRENGTH THIS SEASON. THEY WILL HAVE THEIR WORK CUT OUT FOR THEM AS DEREK CARR AND THE RAIDERS PASSING GAME HAS EVOLVED INTO A TRUE POWERHO– USE. IF THE VIKINGS CAN FORCE OAKLAND TO RUN AND THROW UNDERNEATH THEY WILL HAVE A GOOD CHANCE TO WIN. THAT SAID, THE RAIDERS NEED TO MAKE THIS A HIGH-SCORING SHOOTOUT GAME TO HAVE SUCCESS.
PICK: RAIDERS 27-21

PATRIOTS AT GIANTS: THE PATRIOTS HAVE BEEN THE MOST DOMINANT TEAM IN FOOTBALL THIS YEAR AND FACE A GIANTS DEFENSE THAT HAS GIVEN UP A TON OF POINTS AND YARDS AS OF LATE. ELI MANNING AND COMPANY SHOULD PUT ON THEIR OWN SHOW BUT SHOULD HAVE PLENTY OF TROUBLE COVERING GRONK AND EDELMAN AMONG OTHERS. THE G-MEN ALWAYS SEEM TO PLAY THE PATS CLOSE BUT THIS ONE SHOULD STILL FAVOR NEW ENGLAND.
PICK: PATRIOTS 34-24

CARDINALS AT SEAHAWKS: IF SEATTLE HAS ANY CHANCE IN THE NFC WEST THIS IS A MUST-WIN GAME. ARIZONA IS RELATIVELY HEALTHY ON BOTH SIDES OF THE BALL AND SHOULD BE ABLE TO PUT UP SOME POINT DESPITE THE STRENGTH OF THE OPPOSING DEFENSE. SEATTLE SHOULD LOOK TO RUN THE BALL AND DEFINITELY NEEDS TO GET JIMMY GRAHAM MORE INVOLVED AGAINST THE CARDS LB CORPS. LOOK FOR RUSSELL WILSON TO HAVE A BIG GAME AND SEATTLE TO NOT GIVE THE DIVISION AWAY SO EASILY.
PICK: SEAHAWKS 20-17

CHIEFS AT BRONCOS: THE CHIEFS HAVE QUIETLY STARTED TO PLAY SOME BETTER BALL AS OF LATE AS THEY’VE BEGUN TO THROW THE BALL A LITTLE BETTER. DENVER IS COMING OFF A SURPRISING LOST LAST WEEK WHERE THEIR DEFENSE HAD THEIR WORST GAME OF THE SEASON. EXPECT THEM TO TAKE AWAY EVERYTHING SHORT AND FORCE ALEX SMITH TO THROW DEEP, WHICH COULD FORCE PLENTY OF ICMPLETIONS AND TURNOVERS. PEYTON MANNING HAS ALSO LOOKED BETTER LATELY AND SHOULD BE ABLE TO ATTACK THE CHIEFS SECONDARY MOSTLY AT WILL.
PICK: BRONCOS 27-17

UNDER THE RADAR

TEXANS AT BENGALS: CINCY IS 8-0 AND PLAYING AT HOME AGAINST A STRUGGLING TEAM, WHICH MAKES THIS LOOK LIKE A NO-BRAINER WIN. THE TEXANS HOWEVER WILL BE MOTIVATED AS THEY ARE STILL IN THE RACE FOR THE AFC SOUTH, ARE COMING OFF THEIR BYE WEEK AND ARE GETTING THEIR RECEIVING CORPS HEALTHY. THE BENGALS HAVE PLAYED A LITLE SLOPPY AS OF LATE AND SUCH A GAME COULD COME BACK TO BITE THEM EVENTUALLY. STILL, THE BENGALS OFFENSE SHOULD BE GOOD ENOUGH TO PUT UP A DECENT SCORE THAT HOUSTON PROBABLY CAN’T MATCH.
PICK: BENGALS 28-21
